The mood for everything that is not a plain fact: wishes, feelings, doubts, requests and things that have not happened yet. Learn it one small step at a time: read a short lesson, then its cards come back to you until the pattern is second nature. Each stage goes with a belt.
Loading the subjunctive…
| Person | hablar | comer | vivir |
|---|---|---|---|
| yo | hable | coma | viva |
| tú | hables | comas | vivas |
| él, ella, usted | hable | coma | viva |
| nosotros | hablemos | comamos | vivamos |
| vosotros | habléis | comáis | viváis |
| ellos, ellas, ustedes | hablen | coman | vivan |
No vosotros: Latin America uses ustedes for "you all", with the ellos form: que ustedes hablen, coman, vivan.
A free bonus: starting from the yo form brings irregular stems along with it: tengo → tenga, hago → haga, digo → diga, conozco → conozca.
Keep the sound: buscar → busque, llegar → llegue, empezar → empiece.
Six break the rule (remember DISHES): dar dé, ir vaya, ser sea, haber haya, estar esté, saber sepa.
The lessons below take you through all of this step by step, with cards to make it stick.
Open to everyone, whatever your belt: go through it at your own pace, one lesson after another. Read a lesson and its cards join your deck. Each stage is also one of the things you need for a belt, so the further you get, the higher you can grade.
Extra cards to make it stick: every subjunctive verb form, and for each WEIRDO letter more triggers and examples. Each set opens once you have read its lesson; its cards then join your daily cards, a few new ones a day. The other tenses are there whenever you want to look ahead.
